🤑 Massive fund for Web3, outsource your yield farming, AI-first e-commerce, AngelList raise & GP offer.
Hi there 👋,
Start the day with a laugh.
In 2014, the FBI shared an 80-page glossary of 2,800 internet slang acronyms. And in a worst-case scenario of bureaucracy, that list was full of nonsensical, rarely used acronyms, like this one:
IITYWTMWYBMAD (“If I tell you what this means will you buy me a drink?”)
The design firm, Pentagram, has reimagined that list as a hilarious booklet, and will send one your way if you make a donation to the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF).

Electric News
Electric Capital raised a staggering $1 billion to fund crypto networks, Web3 protocols, and blockchain-enabled businesses.
Who is Electric Capital?
Electric Capital are long-term investors and partners to their Web3 founders. They have spent the last four years building software and data systems that enable them to participate in Web3 ecosystems with equity or tokens.
The company believes that five key trends are emerging in the Web3 Economy:
DAOs will empower global communities to allocate resources to initiatives large and small.
NFTs will form the asset layer for Web3 and the bedrock for new types of financial instruments.
Decentralized Finance will democratize access to financial products around the world.
Decentralized Infrastructure will allow engineers to build the next generation of applications without a central point of failure or control.
Accessible user experiences will onboard millions of users to Web3.
Electric Capital’s announcement details the ideas they’re looking to fund in each of the above trends, and states that they will commit “$1M to $20M in Programmable Money & the Web3 Economy.” (They mean $1MM to $20MM — millions not thousands).
If you’re curious about their current investments, their website lists an array of DeFi, crypto, and other funded companies.
Best of the Rest
🔹 AI-first e-commerce: Dianthus, Inc., a tech-forward e-commerce brand builder, announced it has secured $11.5 million in seed funding. The investment was led by PJC, Underscore VC, and angel investor Jason Calacanis. Dianthus acquires direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands with serious growth potential. This AI-first e-commerce company company provides founders with a lucrative exit strategy, while giving them the technology, marketing and product development resources needed to effectively scale their businesses.
🔹 $9MM for alternative investing platform: Following the launch of its digital platform for alternative investments last month, Gridline has closed a $9 million funding round. Notable investors include David Dorman and Mark Shoberg. Gridline is a first-of-its-kind digital wealth platform that revolutionizes private market investing by providing individual investors with access to top-performing alternative asset managers. Business Wire.
🔹 AngelList raise: The company that helps other people raise money to invest just closed a $100MM round to invest in itself. Details are sketchy, but AngelList Venture is also opening up a community round. The round will be raised on the platform itself, and open to GPs who have made an investment with them over the past year, the blog post stated.
🔹 Fundrise goes industrial: Saltbox, a company providing co-working and warehousing space for up-and-coming e-commerce businesses, said it is working with Fundrise, a real estate investment firm, to expand nationally. Fundrise is putting a $128 million equity investment into the effort, which is part of its larger strategy to invest in well-located, last-mile logistics industrial real estate.
