Our Thoughts

Due to COVID-19, trail running has grown in popularity and this is a decent 3 word .com. It has some strong links such as a DR85 from runnersworld.com and a DR65 from trailrunnermag.com which should help Google trust the site and get it ranking upon revival.

Our Verdict: ★★★☆☆ Good domain in a great niche, but looking in archive.org has not had a website on it for many years (only homepage currently indexed).

Our Thoughts 

Standard Amazon Affiliate site in the tools space but does a better job with EAT and content than the other ones we look at, especially for a starter site. This is great for a less experienced investor by being limited to several topics and tools, but if you can get them all ranking it has the potential to make five figures a month. It has a solid foundation and someone willing to put some time and resources should be set up for a good ROI on this project.

Potential Upside

• 26 keywords ranked 11-20 with 200+ search volume, many of which are solid ecommerce keywords

• 17 outbound links from home page. Cutting this down could better pass the link juice to higher priority pages

• With little updates and little content over the past few months the site is not actively worked on. Refreshing pages and publishing new content can help give the site a boost

Potential Risks

• Looks like may use a few PBNs or just has some low-quality links

• One page has 24% of traffic share according to Ahrefs - check GA as it may be higher than we recommend (< 40%)

Our Thoughts 

This health site is about a particular diet and presents an interesting opportunity for anyone looking to diversify away from Amazon Associates. With several income streams, the business doesn’t rely too much on a single one or on third party platforms.

Adding content and doubling down on recipes could be fruitful as recipe sites alone can pull in a nice monthly profit, in addition to being able to leverage Pinterest as a traffic source. With the site relatively stable and on a small uptrend, it is a good opportunity for someone willing to invest some extra time to grow the business as there are some nice, easy wins the new owner could implement.

Potential Upside

• 37 keywords ranked 11-20 with 200+ search volume with a few buying keywords

• Add an ad network to increase revenue by ~ $100-$200/month

• As the site haven’t even been touched in the past 2-3 months someone who is willing to publish new content and update articles should see benefits

Potential Risks

• Mediocre EAT. There is a persona but it seems fairly fake and poorly fleshed out

• Has links from known guest post link farms

• 800+ links with the same anchor text about a diet may indicate the domain has been spammed

This auto site presents a good opportunity for someone interested in cars or who doesn’t want to rely too heavily on one income stream. With over 100 pieces of content, there are a lot of articles and keywords to optimize - brushing up these articles and doing SEO on existing content can provide a nice ROI because of the sheer volume of keywords on the 2nd page of Google with good search volume.

The money pages themselves aren’t terrible, but could definitely be improved to improve CTR and revenue. All in all, this site could grow to be a beast.

However, this site isn’t for the faint of heart - there are some risks to the business. While a 301 redirected site isn’t a big deal, there is risk in the fact that it was built on an expired domain - judging from wayback the relevance seems mediocre.

Potential Upside

• Improve page and table format on money pages to increase CRO

• 3,947 KWs ranked 11-20 with 200+ search volume, many with high buying intent

• Home page has 100+ outbound links. Reducing this to priority pages will improve link juice flow and rankings

• Terrible site design

Potential Risks

• Built on an expired domain and has a 301 redirected domain

• Hit by May update, but has stabilized

• Poor EAT

Our Thoughts

This website certainly caught our eye - it’s in the home space and apparently makes 4 figures a month. While it certainly brings in a nice chunk of change it’s not a ‘must-close’ deal. Despite its DR52 (with some nice authority links) Google has hit it in the past 2 penalties which is some cause of concern. Whether it’s due to links, content, or just a lack of SEO efforts is hard to tell.

This should only really be considered by an investor who is or has an experienced SEO. With a lot of content, there are a number of opportunities to improve the business, but it is hard to say whether it will yield an ROE (return on effort).

Potential Upside

• 180 keywords ranked 11-20 with 200+ search volume, several of which have high buying intent with 1000+ search volume

• 120 internal links from home page!

• CTAs on money pages have same color as theme color. Changing to a contrasting color and improving tables on ‘best X’ money pages can increase conversions

• Leverage an ad network to increase revenue

Potential Risks

• Mediocre EAT - Poor site design, little social proof, persona could be improved

• Site hasn’t performed well with algorithm updates, though traffic appears stable past 3 months.

• Has some odd forum links on unrelated topics which may not be natural
